Frequently Asked Questions About Star Wars Toys
🙋 At what age is it suitable to introduce kids to Star Wars?
With a range of screen productions, age ratings vary. Young Jedi Adventures and Lego Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out are suitable for five- and six-year-olds.
Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope gets the green light at around seven; it is the original trilogy movie catered to the youngest audience.
As for the rest of the sagas, TV shows are typically suggested for ages eight and up and sometimes 12, as seen in Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
However, there are other ways to introduce your little Jedi to the franchise if they are not yet familiar with it. Regarding toys, even the youngest ones can enjoy the Star Wars galaxy. For instance, ‘Mr Potato Head Hasbro The Yamdalorian and The Tot, included in this list, is recommended for two-year-olds. So, whether battling in space or exploring galaxies far, far away, there’s a Star Wars adventure for every age.
🙋 Are Star Wars toys a good gift for boys and girls?
At TheToyZone, we firmly believe toys have moved beyond traditional gender boundaries. Just like other beloved characters and universes such as Minecraft or Pokémon, Star Wars transcends any specific gender.
It presents a vast galaxy of characters, ships and stories that can ignite any child’s imagination, regardless of gender.
So, when considering a Star Wars toy as a gift, you can be confident they’ll love it if they are into this universe.
🙋 Who invented Star Wars toys?
It wasn’t the first company George Lucas and 20th Century Fox approached. They wanted Mego Corporation, the big name in licensed dolls in the 70s, to make toys based on their 1977 movie. But Mego said no, thinking Star Wars would not be a hit. Big mistake!
So Lucas and Fox turned to Kenner Products, a smaller toy maker that would later become part of Hasbro in 1991. Kenner was so unprepared for the massive demand for Star Wars toys that they came up with a wild idea: they sold empty boxes with a promise to send the figures later.
This was called the Early Bird Certificate, and it included a cardboard backdrop, a little sticker sheet, a club membership card and most importantly, the certificate.
It turns out the Early Bird Certificate was a flop, but it kept Star Wars fans waiting for the real deal. In 1978, Kenner finally released 12 figures, along with playsets and vehicles, and they were a smash hit. Kenner had invented Star Wars toys, and they made history.
So… What Star Wars Toy Should You Get?
When choosing a gift for the young Star Wars fan in your life, you should consider a few things. First of all, what’s their favorite Star Wars era? Are they die-hard fans of the original trilogy, or do they lean toward the newer Disney movies? Perhaps they’re captivated by the world of The Mandalorian.
Next, think about what ignites their imagination during playtime. If LEGO is their game, the LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon promises hours of building fun and intergalactic adventures. For those with a crafty streak, the Klutz Star Wars Folded Flyers Activity Kit offers a hands-on experience in creating their own Star Wars flyers. If they’re a collector at heart, The Black Series Rey’s Speeder is a fantastic addition to any figure collection. And, of course, for those who adore cuteness, The Child Animatronic Edition is an irresistible and interactive companion guaranteed to warm hearts.
In crafting this list, we’ve aimed for inclusivity, ensuring there’s something to delight every Star Wars fan, regardless of their age, tastes, or favorite films or series. However, we know that we might have missed an absolute gem in the vast universe of Star Wars toys.
If you think there’s an ultimate Star Wars toy we’ve overlooked, don’t hesitate to reach out and let us know. This is the Way!
