Make way for high-octane play with the speedy blue hedgehog we all know and love. With the return of Sonic to the big screen with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (follow-up to the smash hit Sonic the Hedgehog) and the release of Sonic Frontiers on the Nintendo Switch, it’s safe to say we are in peak Sonic era.
This ferocious furry hero can turn into an obsession, so when kids love Sonic… Sonic is all they want. But with so many different products, finding that special toy for kids can be a minefield. I am a confessed Sonic fan (and yes, I remember it the first time around), so I channeled my inner child (not too difficult) to search for the best Sonic toys out now that I want to play with.
As I’m all too aware, everybody has different tastes, needs and budgets, so I included a variety of toys to suit everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sonic the Hedgehog
🙋 Why is Sonic so popular with all ages?
Since his inception in the 1990s, Sonic has lived in the hearts of millions of people of all ages around the world. Partly due to the cool personality of each character and partly because of the thrilling, fast-paced gameplay, Sonic has adapted with time to bring a fresh, exciting look to each new generation for them to enjoy the saga.
Much the same as other heroes like Mario, Link, Donkey Kong, Pac Man and Lara Croft, who are more than just video game characters with their own movies, comics, television shows, and merchandise, Sonic and his friends/enemies have cemented their legacy into that list as video game icons.
🙋 Are Sonic toys for girls or boys?
Thankfully, we live in a society where toys no longer exist for specific genders (which is great news for me as a fan of all toys). Sonic is such a great character that he isn’t aimed at certain criteria. Sonic and Co can be, and is, enjoyed by anyone, whether it’s in the long list of video game titles, box office smash movies, or in the toys we’ve included in our list.
Sonic the Hedgehog is for EVERYONE.
So… What Sonic Toy Should You Get?
As you can imagine, the answer is always ‘it depends.’ Are you buying this for a kid obsessed with cars as much as with Sonic? One of the remote control cars would be a perfect choice. Are you looking for a gift for a kid that always has a plushy around wherever they go? Get them one of the Sonic plushies, and they will be made up.
I tried to include as many options as possible, but if you know of any other Sonic toy that you think is awesome but that didn’t make the list, PLEASE send me a message so that I can update the list and include it.
💡TIP: Didn’t find the perfect Sonic toy here? Give our Sonic gift guide a look, there are loads more options there! And if you want a massive nostalgia trip, then check out our collection of 78 toys from the 2000s. |
