Teddy is a big kid at heart and a self-confessed geek who loves all things LEGO, Nintendo and RC (drones included). His mission is to find toys that kids will treasure, so that is why he spends A LOT of time curating the perfect list of toys and games that include options for everyone without putting kids inside boxes.

TheToyZone is an independent publication with no ties with companies mentioned on the site. We don’t accept free products in exchange for glowing reviews. Instead, we report our own findings to help you make an informed decision.

Let me introduce you to Norman. He’s the interactive toy that tells knock-knock jokes that will keep your little jokers and their friends entertained for hours with 50 different jokes.

As you probably know, the market for interactive toys is vast. Ever since Thomas Edison added a miniature phonograph into a doll in 1877, toy manufacturers have been advancing technology to make toys come alive and interact with children across the world.

When we came across Norman, we knew we had to check out what amazing jokes he had to tell us.

Unboxing

Norman arrived in this adorable box which introduces him to your world. “I tell knock-knock jokes” he says as he peers around a door.

Wearing a stripy soft shirt, blue jeans (which are made from actual denim), and red sneakers, this cute red-headed, bespeckled boy adorns a huge smile and tiny little ears who like he’s going to jump straight out of the box into your arms.

Once you’ve unboxed Norman, you’ll see that the top half of him is squishy and cuddly. His hair is short but can still be ruffled and even comes to a point at the back just like other little boys with short hair. Great attention to detail.

His lower half on the other hand contains the large soundbox, batteries (which are included), and an on/off switch which can be adjusted through a flap in his jeans.

As the soundbox is quite cumbersome, it makes Norman’s body look a bit…abnormal. His butt does stick out as his legs are sown at the front. This isn’t a downside though as it makes him perfectly balanced when sat on a chair or table with his legs dangling.

Ok, let’s talk about jokes.

Firstly, I’ve gotta say, his voice perfectly matches his looks and personality. Even if you didn’t know his name and you only heard that voice coming from that face, you would probably name him Norman yourself.

With 50 knock-knock jokes in his repertoire, Norman won’t let you down with content. Press his hand once to start the joke “Knock Knock”, respond with “Who’s there?” and press his hand again for the setup “Lettuce”, “Lettuce who?”, then squeeze one last time for the punchline “Lettuce alone, we are trying to study”. Queue laughter from everyone around!

Kids will love to memorize these jokes to amuse their friends at school, have Grandpa giggling at the family BBQ, and making parents spit out their drink at the dinner table. It will also encourage them to make up their own knock-knock jokes. You never know, you may have the next Seinfeld or Schumer in the making.

Here are some of our favorites from Norman:

“Knock knock”

“Who’s there?”

“Peas”

“Peas who?”

“Peas may I have more ice cream?”

“Knock knock”

“Who’s there?”

“Isabelle”

“Isabelle who?”

“Isabelle ringing or do I need my ears checked?”

“Knock knock”

“Who’s there?”

“Ketchup”

“Ketchup who?”

“Slow down, I’m trying to ketchup”

What I loved ❤️

  • Sometimes Norm will laugh at his own jokes
  • He’s very light and cuddly for bedtime
  • If the jokes get too much, you can turn him off by the switch

What I didn’t like as much 💔

  • His arms can’t really move much
  • The soundbox isn’t padded on the bottom. We wouldn’t recommend him attempting to fly.
It's Me Norman. I'm an Interactive 18" boy Doll That Tells Hilarious Knock Knock Jokes
  • Hi, my name is Norman. I am an 18’’ tall (13" sitting down) boy that tells hilarious knock knock jokes!
  • Have you ever met a child who hasn’t told a knock knock joke? Neither have I.
  • I come with 50 knock knock jokes. Batteries are included and I am ready to go!
  • I am interactive and I need you to play along with me. I want to be your best pal.
  • I am kid tested and teacher, parent and grandparent approved.

Here’s what the manufacturer has to say:

“What kid do you know who doesn’t love a ‘knock knock’ joke?” asks Mackey. “Telling knock-knock jokes is universal and as much a part of childhood as eating ice cream or throwing a ball. Hearing our children laugh at something silly for that small window of time when kids can just be kids, is a stage of development we as parents and grandparents treasure.”

Wrap Up

Norman would be an adorable addition to any doll collection. His jokes may be corny but it’s a great way for kids to amuse themselves and their friends/family. The volume isn’t too loud that it will become annoying nor is it too low that you need to hold the speaker to your ear. We love the fact that kids can interact with his jokes and with 50 in the bank, they won’t get distracted easily. We would love it if the soundbox was a little smaller and less noticeable but, all in all, Norm is great fun and we loved having him in the office. It will sure keep TheToyZone team in knock-knock jokes for a long while.
