Danny is the father of a 5-year-old who loves video games and a very active 2-year-old who is always playing outside. He has made plenty of mistakes buying toys in the early years of parenthood, so hopes he can help others avoid the same fate.

According to Google Trends, Labubu first appeared in May 2024, and since then, it has taken the world by storm.

A line of plush toys created by Kasing Lung, based in Hong Kong, they are a scary, evil creature with large ears and sharp teeth, and are sold by the Chinese Company Pop Mart.

There are currently over 300 different Labubu figurines available, covering a wide range of fandoms and interests.

Even as I write up this post, there has been a Labubu collection for Naomi Osaka’s appearance at the US Open.

Whilst there are so many Labubu characters to choose from, we tried to pick the most popular to convert into a coloring page that you can color in.

What is so special about Labubu dolls?

Whilst there are many different collectible toys released every year, Labubu is the only one to go mega viral in 2025.

The latest theory suggests that Labubu emerged after the post-pandemic period in China, when consumers sought to escape the very real issues of the pandemic. When it went viral in China, it quickly spread worldwide, first reaching the Philippines and then the US and Canada.

As they gained popularity, they started to receive more attention, and then celebrities began jumping on the bandwagon, including K-pop superstars, Rihanna, and Dua Lipa.

The labubus are affordable and small enough to clip on a handbag (bag charm), which also explains that it’s not just children buying them, with many customers 30+

Earlier in 2025, a life-size Labubu was sold for over $170K, and now many “fake” Labubu dolls are being caught at customs from unethical sellers looking to cash in on the viral trend.
