To coincide with the latest release this week of the live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon, we commissioned several coloring pages.
In the trend of live-action remakes from Hollywood, the story is the same as the classic animated version.
On the Viking island of Berk, dragons regularly battle with Vikings, but Hiccup, the son of the Viking King, Chief Stoick, is small, and no one believes he can fight dragons.
When he finds an injured dragon who can’t fly, he looks after him and calls him Toothless.
Whilst the Vikings believe that the Dragons are evil, it’s revealed they are enslaved to keep finding food. At the end of the movie, the Dragons, including Toothless, work together with the Vikings.

1. Hiccup
Who better to start with than Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, the main character in How to Train Your Dragon? This heir to the tribe lacks the strength and size of his father, but makes up for it with brains and ingenuity. He is voiced by Mason Thames in the film and Jay Baruchel in the animated version from DreamWorks.
2. Toothless
The only known Night Fury, Toothless, is first feared by the Vikings as a dragon. But in reality, Toothless is less scary and more playful, and slowly becomes Hiccup’s best friend as the movie progresses.
3. Dragon Babies – Night Lights
When Toothless and Light Fury have three babies when hatched, they are known as the Night Lights but have the names Dart, Pouncer, and Ruffrunner. In this coloring page, you can choose what color to make them to match what you like!
4. Astrid
Nico Parker plays Astrid Hofferson in the live-action remake, and she is a Viking warrior from Clan Hofferson.
She is the love interest of Hiccup and will eventually become his girlfriend, and then ultimately the Chieftess of the Hooligan tribe.
5. Light Fury
Unlike the dark skin of Toothless, Light Fury can turn invisible when flying across the sky. Light Furty eventually mates with Toothless, and they hatch three baby dragons known as the Night Lights!
6. Skull Crusher
Skullcrusher is a tracker class of dragons that can use smell to find anything in the world. As the dragon of Chieftain Stoick, he makes a great team until tragedy hits Stoick when Drago Bludvist kills him.
7. Skrill
Skrill is one of the most powerful dragons with its ability to use lightning instead of fire-breathing. If that wasn’t powerful enough, the Skirll can also stay frozen for decades under the ice.
