Generations of children have grown up with LEGO castles, pirate ships, cars, and much more. Today there’s a wider range of LEGO sets than ever before thanks to licensing deals with big brands like Star Wars and Disney, as well as original themes aimed at helping kids role-play and use their imaginations.

The great thing about a kid turning 5 years old is that there are a lot of sets aimed at this age group and even more open up when they turn 6. To help you choose the perfect LEGO set for your 5-6-year-old we worked with our team who have kids in this age group and also analyzed the current bestselling sets to look for any that stood out as being loved more than others.

As with all our guides for kids, we wanted to make sure we included a range of different sets from Marvel to Disney Princesses so hopefully, there is a set that is perfect for your little boy or girl:

For five and six-year-olds, LEGO sets need to offer the right level of challenge as well as be the right kind of toys once they’ve been built.

Our Favorite LEGO Sets For 5-Year-Old Kids

1. LEGO Classic Large Creative Brick Box 10698

The cheapest way to get more LEGO for your 5-year-old would be with the classic large creative box. You get 790 pieces which are around 5 cents per piece! In comparison, you pay at least 10 cents or more with the other sets on this list. Creative boxes like these can really support imagination and creativity for kids and also makes the hobby of LEGO a little cheaper.
